Vidyut Jammwal was born on December 10, 1980, in Jammu, India. He is one of three children born to an Army officer and lived in various parts of India. He trained martial arts in Kalaripayattu in an ashram in Palakkad, Kerala which was run by his mother, since he was three years old. He traveled to many countries training with martial artists in various forms, some of which find their base in Kalaripayattu. Jammwal traveled to over 25 countries, where he performed in live-action shows. He participated in ‘Gladrags’, which is an Indian magazine that features modeling and related events, in the year 2000 and has been living in Mumbai ever since.
Jammwal made his Bollywood debut with the film ‘Force’ in 2011. He played a negative role in the film and won multiple best debut awards including the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut.
Post beginning his career with a negative character in ‘Force’, Jammwal bagged multiple negative roles in various action films later. Jammwal took part in the Telugu-language films ‘Shakti’ and “Oosaravelli’ and was once again a negative character in both. In 2012, Jammwal made his debut in Tamil cinema with ‘Billa II’, as the antagonist. The same year, he played the antagonist in ‘Thupakki’, which became a blockbuster. He also received a SIIMA Award for Best Actor in Negative Role for the film.
Jammwal later acted in the Hindi-language film ‘Commando’ as a protagonist and performed real-world combat-based action without the aid of stuntmen.
The film follows Karan, an Indian commando who escapes from Chinese custody and runs into a woman named Simrit, who is being chased by a man named AK-74. The film was showcased internationally for the first time in July 2013 at the Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal, followed by a screening at the Fantastic Fest in Texas in September 2013. He received positive feedback from international media. In 2017, he starred in ‘Commando 2’, the sequel to ‘Commando’, which became a box office success.
In 2019, Jammwal starred in American director Chuck Russell's first Bollywood film ‘Junglee’ and ‘Commando 3’, which became the most successful film in the franchise. His next project was Tigmanshu Dhulia's ‘Yaara’, an official remake of the French film ‘Les Lyonnais’. In 2020, he appeared in an action thriller, called ‘Khuda Haafiz’, which was inspired by real-life events. The movie became his biggest opener ever and its sequel ‘Khuda Haafiz Chapter II’ was announced with some leads. He also played the lead role in the movie ‘Sanak’.
Jammwal has also been part of a number of popular magazine lists. He ranked in ‘The Times of India’'s listing of India's Top 10 Most Desirable Men in 2012 and 2013. ‘Men's Health’ declared him as List of Best Bodies and Top 5 Fittest Men in 2011 and 2012. In 2012, ‘People Magazine India’ listed him as one of The Sexiest Men Alive. In 2014, He was honoured as PETA's Hottest Vegetarian. In 2018, he was declared as Top 6 Martial Artists Around The World.

It’s not just his acting or action skills that make him so famous and popular. His toned abs and muscular physique with flexibility and great shape make him one of the most adored celebrities of Bollywood.
What is the secret bodybuilding regime that gave Vidyut Jamwal a stunning physique? This
is the question that comes to every fitness enthusiasts’ mind. Vidyut Jamwal has a passion for fitness and prefers to do their stunts without the use of cable and body duplicates. Being a fitness freak, Vidyut Jamwal works 6 to 9 hours a day. Surprisingly, he doesn’t like spending too much time in the gym and only goes there for strength training.
He doesn’t go to the gym daily but tries to go at least 3 to 4 times a week for strength and weight training. He trains his body every day, taking rest only when he feels his body needs it. He follows a tough workout routine where he invests 2 days in martial arts practice and 4 days of rigorous weight training while doing gymnastics and parkour in the meantime. And although it might sound like he is very disciplined, he believes that you don’t need to be disciplined in order to achieve your goals. He is also not the kind of person to restrict himself when he wants to eat something and admits when his body needs it.

Fourth, Bodybuilding is not only about training hard, but it is also about having the right approach to nutrition. Without proper nutrition planning, one cannot achieve the perfect biceps, abs, and shoulders no matter how rigorously he trains at the gym.

The fact that the action hero does not like to spend extended hours at the gym is truly astounding. Jammwal hits the gym 3-4 days a week only for strength training. His gym workouts are mostly geared towards conditioning his shoulder and leg muscles. Apart from training at the gym, Jamwal’s fitness mantra is to practice gymnastics, martial arts, and parkour regularly.
If you want to achieve his body, let me tell you this - it’s not going to be a piece of cake. You need to be ready for hard work and be determined to achieve your goal because that’s the key to success. Before you start working out, make sure you stay hydrated by drinking water. T-bar row - 2 sets of 12-15 reps
EZ-bar curls - 3 sets of 8-10 reps
Hammer curls - 3 sets of 8-10 reps with each arm
Reverse barbell curls - 2 sets of 12-15 reps
Chin-ups - 3 sets of 8-10 reps
Tuesday: Chest and Triceps
Barbell bench press - 3 sets of 4-6 reps
Incline bench press - 3 sets of 4-8 reps
Rope push-downs - 3 sets of 10 reps
Cable flyes - 2 sets of 13 reps
Skull crushers - 3 sets of 8-10 reps
Triceps kickbacks - 2 sets of 12-15 reps
Wednesday: Legs
Treadmill run - 20 minutes
Dumbbell lunges - 2 sets of 8 reps with each leg
Dumbbell reverse lunges - 2 sets of 8 reps with each leg
Stiff leg deadlifts - 3 sets of 8-10 reps
Thursday: Shoulders
Shrugs - 2 sets of 12-13 reps
Dumbbell side lateral raise - 2 sets of 10 reps with each arm
Dumbbell front lateral raise - 2 sets of 10 reps with each arm
Seated dumbbell press - 3 sets of 6-8 reps
Upright row - 3 sets of 6-8 reps
Friday through Sunday: Rest
He uses Friday, Saturday, and Sunday as rest days from the gym and weightlifting.
Although 4 days of working out seem like a small amount of time for his body, let’s not forget that besides that he does parkour and gymnastics on a daily basis, which also helps him achieve such an amazing physique. If we think about diet, we can think of a hundred different types of diet. Diet is all about what your body needs to stay at its best and healthiest shape. Eating and sleeping are the most important factors in muscle building.
Vidyut Jamwal leads a disciplined life, avoiding aerated drinks and abstaining from smoking. He always sticks to a vegan diet, which according to him keeps him healthier and mentally active. He doesn’t believe in dieting and eats six small meals throughout the day. He believes that food should contain a balance of all the basic tastes like sweet, sour, and salty.
