Eric Marlon Bishop (yup, that’s his real name), but better known by his screen name Jamie Foxx, is a multifaceted entertainer—he is an actor, comedian, musician, producer, and radio host. He was born on 13 December 1967, in Terrell, Texas, USA, to Louise Annette Talley and Darrell Bishop. His parents separated when he was young, and he was brought up by his maternal grandparents in a racially segregated community. He was musically inclined from childhood and started playing the piano when he was five. He also had a knack for telling jokes and making people laugh. On top of his all-star talent at an early age, he learned to be a fantastic impressionist. Here are a few of my favorites:
Watch this on YouTube:
He was a very talented kid at school and participated in a variety of activities. His musical abilities were evident from childhood as he began playing the piano at the tender age of five. He was also a top-ranking student and skilled at playing sports like basketball and football. As a teenager, he also sang for a music band and was often appreciated for his ability to make his classmates laugh. He began his career as a stand-up comedian before trying his hand at acting. He was chosen to play a football player in the film ‘Any Given Sunday’ because of his sporting background. More film roles followed, and he reached the peak of his acting career with his performance in the biopic ‘Ray’ for which he won an ‘Academy Award’ and ‘BAFTA Award.’ In addition to being a successful actor, he is also a ‘Grammy’ award-winning musician. He has released five albums, out of which two were accredited platinum status. And let me tell you, this man can sing till your heart melts!
He played the title role in the biographical film ‘Ray’ which was based on the life of rhythm and blues musician Ray Charles. The film was critically acclaimed and won several prestigious awards, including the academy award. He is only the third black male actor to have won the ‘Academy Award’ for ‘Best Actor’ in a leading role- the other two being Sidney Poitier and Denzel Washington. He attributes all his success to his grandmother, Esther Marie Talley, who raised him to what he is today:
Such versatility requires intensive physical control, in addition to decent acting chops. His dynamic physique is as much a part of his transformative ability as his acting, and his workouts lay a foundation on which he can build any character he takes on.
Even though he’s 53 years old, if you think he’s going to be stopping anytime soon, you’d be dead wrong. Although he loves to joke around about his age.
Don’t let his age deceive you. He’s still got the work ethic of a young Jamie Foxx. For his workouts, Foxx says at his age, he doesn’t need a trainer. He says for anyone 50 and over who has years of experience in fitness, you have all the information you need to eat right and exercise right. And he has some advice for other men his age who regularly workout and want to stay fit. Instead of utilizing a personal trainer’s regimen, Foxx has his own benchmarks. He works out first thing in the morning, and shoots for 20 pull-ups per day. “And if you can get 25 dips, 50 push ups, 100 sit-ups, if you can get 20 to 30 back extensions, you’re done,” he says.
It's standard Hollywood practice these days for a leading man to get absolutely ripped in preparation for a new role, but the pressure is that much higher when you're set to play a world heavyweight boxing champion. That's the challenge facing Jamie Foxx as he gets ready to step into the boots of infamous fighter Mike Tyson. And you see from the instagram pictures, he’s up for the challenge:
The 53-year-old actor just shared some progress pics, confirming that the long-awaited Tyson biopic is finally going ahead after years of planning, and he's been in training for the last few months. Looking visibly bulkier, he wrote: "the first but biggest task is to transform the body."
Even Mike Tyson thinks that Jamie is a good fit for the role:
So in this week’s article, we’re going to take a look at Jamie Foxx’s workout for the Mike Tyson movie.
Jamie Foxx’s Working Out Routine:
Actor Jamie Foxx is one of the hardest-working guys in Hollywood. Between starring in big-budget films, hosting TV shows, singing, you might wonder: How does Jamie Foxx get it all done?
Jamie Foxx has stated that he likes to work out every day so he can focus on his strength by hitting bodyweight exercises. His overarching philosophy when it comes to food and fitness? "Don't kill yourself trying to be in shape," he says. "Eat what you like, just don't eat as much of it."
To kick off his mornings, Foxx tells Tim Ferris that he sticks to the exact same workout routine. Here is an excerpt from that interview:

"You don't need a trainer," says Foxx. "I put a pull-up bar right near me in the bedroom. If you can manage to get 20 pull-ups a day…25 dips, 50 push-ups, 100 sit-ups…20 to 30 back extensions, you're done. I do that as soon as I get out of bed."
Foxx also shared some details about how he's getting into fighting shape in an Instagram Live interview with Mark Birnbaum. He explained that he's been working out every other day, focusing on building strength through bodyweight exercises. Although he seems motivated now to take care of his health, this wasn’t always the case:
"What I’m doing right now is changing the body," he said. "Now what I do every other day, I do 60 pullups, we do 60 dips, we do 100 pushups, changing the body."
He jokingly added that when it comes to leg day, he's got a way to go: "I ain't got no calf muscles, so we might have to get some prosthetics for that."
For final words of wisdom, Foxx has an important message: Moderation, exercise and healthy habits. “When you look better, you feel better. So when you eat right you feel right, and that’s what I try to do,” he says. He of course likes to have fun with it, and it looks like he’s definitely the life of the part wherever he goes.

To create balance, Foxx has been known to eat smart and include unhealthy foods in his meal, if it means having something healthy to counter it out. This entails making sacrifices, such as allowing for a cup of water, and healthy drinks. Let’s take a deeper look into his diet plan.
Jamie Foxx’s Diet Plan:
Breakfast
Egg whites
Turkey Sausage
Slice of Toast
Orange Juice
Pancake
Lunch
Brussel sprouts
Bacon
Salmon
Rice
Dinner
Steak
Vegetables
While many intermittent fasting proponents skip their first meal of the day, Foxx relies on a big breakfast to give him plenty of energy for the day. Foxx sticks to low-carb basics but he says, "I snack a lot, but if I snack a lot, that means I have to go run a lot or go work out a lot," says Foxx.
When he's sticking to healthier fare, Foxx says he typically snacks on blackberries and LaCroix sparkling water. While Foxx's diet may be mostly healthy, he allows himself some leeway when it comes to his cravings. "My favorite thing is salt and vinegar chips," the actor admits. As for his favorite cheat meal, "If I'm going all out, it's called the Sofia pizza. It's like this white cheese pizza with sausage on it." Oh well, we can’t always be perfect!
